The Tower District of Fresno is a unique area centered around the historic Tower Theatre, which is included in the National List of Historic Places. Built in 1939, this theater is located at Olive and Wishon Avenues, right in the heart of the Tower District. However, this district is more than just a historical site; it is also a great place to live, work and play in Fresno.

The community center is host to many events and festivals throughout the year; progressive spirits from all over Fresno come to tower for the fun. Home to a subculture of talented artists, musicians, millennials, and old-timers attracted to its unique cultural arts, diversity, and charm.
Located just north of downtown Fresno proper, this community was known as a residential area for the first part of its history. Then, shortly after World War II, more small shops and services began relocating here. It is believed that much of this relocation stemmed from the Tower District’s proximity to the original Fresno Normal School (which was later renamed California State University at Fresno).
