The original boundaries of Fig Garden included such streets as Palm and Shaw Avenues, Maroa Avenue, Griffith Avenue, Van Ness Boulevard and others.

The Fig Garden Police Protection District was established in 1950, and in 1994, residents in the community voted in favor of having a designated sheriff service within the district.

Home to the annual Christmas Tree Event, which is coordinated by the community’s Christmas Tree Lane Committee. This event brings residents of Fig Garden together each year and is quite a spectacular even to check out! In 2012, the Christmas Tree Lane event celebrated its 90th year!
